FAQs

  • Yes, we do our best to tailor Paid Private Tours to your convenience. Often guests prefer to use the standard Start/End Points, but we can typically meet guests at their hotel*, end at a certain restaurant, etc.

*A hotel must be in the immediate Downtown / River Walk area for a guide to meet you there.

  • Generally we find that 2 hours brings guests the best experience and value, but we are happy to work around your schedule as much as possible.

In terms of pricing, 2 hours is the minimum, so there is no difference in price if a tour is 2 hours, 1.5 hours, or 1 hour. For tours longer than 2 hours, just send us a message with what you’re wanting, and we’ll get back to you with a price.

  • We find that the Downtown and King William District routes bring guests great experiences, but we are happy to discuss tailoring a tour to your interests in other areas. Additional costs may apply.

  • Our specialty is walking tours, which is typically how Paid Private Tours take place. On occasion, we can add a driving component, if guests’ mobility is limited or if a Paid Private Tour is covering a greater area than just Downtown or King William District.

Driving entails additional cost and is only available for a maximum of 4 guests. Please message us for more information.

  • The parking situation Downtown fluctuates quite a bit depending on day and time. But here are a couple tips…

An affordable option for parking is the Bexar County Parking Garage (211 S. Flores St.). It’s a five-minute walk from the tour’s meeting spot, and the cost is usually $5 for all day parking. To check the price before heading that way, call 210-335-2700.

Metered parking along the street can also be a good idea on Sundays or after 4pm on all other days. A good area to look for metered parking is around 115 S. Flores St. Always read the signage, but there’s usually a two-hour max before 6pm (and it’s free after 6pm). On Sundays, metered parking is free.

Both of the above addresses will put you near the start of the tour and are inexpensive, but they’re a bit farther away from the core of Downtown.

  • San Antonio has over 300 days of sunshine! We love rain when it arrives, but we also prioritize the wellbeing of our tour members in less than ideal weather.

As such, unsafe conditions or logistical conflicts may cause tours to be canceled. We excel in staying in touch with you, but you’re always welcome to message us if questions arise at +1 210-560-0807.

  • Texas can be very hot in the summer, but whenever possible, tours are scheduled at times when temps are cooler. The hottest temps are at street level, but things cool down once on the river level. We take advantage of air conditioning, seating, and shade at every opportunity along the way.

Guests are encouraged to dress in cool clothing, wear hats and sunscreen, and bring water!

  • Yes! Our guides are sensitive to the needs of tour members and will make available every opportunity for rest and care.

  • All ages are welcome, but the tour is best for those comfortable with leisurely walking a mile and listening to some really good stories.

Paid Private Tours do allow additional freedom for the guide to tailor the storytelling to a more specific audience and provide optimal engagement, whether that be college students or elementary school-aged kids.

  • Our guides work hard to make routes accessible and easy to traverse. The Downtown route includes some stairs, but let us know in advance if this is a challenge, and we will gladly find a work-around!
