Just a short distance from Downtown San Antonio is tucked away a beautiful neighborhood: King William District.

A group of renowned architects, socialites, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders shared two things in common: they were all hard workers, and they all lived on the same street. While strolling from one gorgeous home to the next, visitors catch a glimpse of times past and the challenges modernity brings. This tour explores not only beautiful architecture but also the stories of noteworthy residents and events - including a cold case and the story of a political refugee who would become president.

Route: Houses along King William Street, the San Antonio River, and Johnson Street Bridge.

Price: $40 per adult. $20 per child/youth (ages 3-17).

Language: English only.

Duration and Distance: The standard tour duration is 1.5-2 hours long and covers about 1 mile (1.6 km) of easy walking.

Start/End Point: The tour begins at the Gazebo in King William Park (131 King William St.) and ends at the same location.

Reservations for Paid Tours are required and must be made at least 90 minutes before the tour time.

Paid Tours are offered on a pre-set schedule, which is released one month at a time, usually a week or two before the start of a month.

    You’re also welcome to send us a message letting us know you’ll be in town on certain dates and asking to be notified when the schedule of Paid Tours for that month is released!

    Once the schedule of Paid Tours is published for a month, it is unlikely that more tour options will be added. But you’re welcome to send us a message asking to be notified if any Paid Tours are added. Please include in your message the dates you’ll be in San Antonio.

  • Parking is usually a breeze in King William District. There is plentiful free parking along the curb at King William Park (131 King William St.), which is the standard Start/End Point for the tour.

  • San Antonio has over 300 days of sunshine! We love rain when it arrives, but we also prioritize the wellbeing of our tour members in less than ideal weather.

    As such, unsafe conditions or logistical conflicts may cause tours to be canceled. We excel in staying in touch with you, but you’re always welcome to message us if questions arise at +1 210-560-0807.

  • Texas can be very hot in the summer, but whenever possible, tours are scheduled at times when temps are cooler. We take advantage of shade at every opportunity along the way.

    Guests are encouraged to dress in cool clothing, wear hats and sunscreen, and bring water!

  • Guides are happy to receive tips in cash or via Venmo in-person. After the fact, you can tip via Venmo (@AmigoSA), PayPal, or credit card by clicking here.

  • The King William District route has limited opportunities for seating. As a neighborhood tour, there are no bathrooms or opportunities to purchase water easily available.

    Nevertheless, our guides are sensitive to the needs of our guests and will make every effort for guests’ rest and care.

  • All ages are welcome, but the tour is best for those comfortable with leisurely walking a mile and listening to some really good stories.

  • Our guides work hard to make routes accessible and easy to traverse.

    The King William District route typically includes one set of stairs and has limited seating. If this presents a challenge or if you have other mobility or sensory concerns, please send us a message to let us know in advance, and we will gladly find a suitable workaround.
