Walking  Tour

Are you ready to explore San Antonio and have fun with fellow Bogleheads? Join us for this special tour of some must-see sights of Downtown San Antonio!

From the iconic Alamo to the world-famous River Walk, this tour introduces guests to "a few of our favorite things" in Downtown, providing a glimpse of famous sights and wonderful stories. The emphasis of this tour is history, but we keep it fun and enjoyable! It’s also an excellent way for first-time visitors to get acquainted with the city!

Route: Hyatt Regency Lobby, the Alamo (exterior), Houston St., St. Mary’s School for Boys (exterior), and the River Walk.

Price: This activity has been provided by the 2025 Bogleheads Conference. There is no cost to participants.

Language: English.

Duration and Distance: Lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes, this tour covers about 0.5 miles (0.8km) of easy walking.

Start Point: The tour meets in the street-level lobby of the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk (123 Losoya St.), in the seating area near the hotel’s front entrance.

End Point: The tour ends in the river-level lobby of the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk (123 Losoya St.).

Reservations must be made at least 60 minutes before the tour time to guarantee a tour.

FAQs

  • Yes, Conference check-in at Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk will be available at 10am-12pm. As such, you can complete Conference check-in before or after your reserved tour time.

    If you have luggage, please make arrangements to leave it at the hotel, either in your room or with reception, so that you do not take it on the tour.

  • There has been overwhelming demand for this walking tour, and only a limited number of spots are available. As such, it won’t be possible to add more tour times.

    However, if there’s a cancellation, it will be reflected in the calendar above, and you’ll be able to book that spot.

  • San Antonio has over 300 days of sunshine, and Friday is expected to be one of them!

    The temps during tour time on Friday are expected to be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

  • Guests are encouraged to dress in cool clothing, wear appropriate footwear, consider sun protection, and bring water!

  • With a duration of just 75 minutes, this tour is fairly succinct and will not have a formal halfway break. However, our guides are sensitive to the needs of tour members and will make available every opportunity for rest and care, when needed.

  • All ages are welcome, but the tour is best for those comfortable with leisurely walking a half mile and listening to some really good stories.

  • Our guides work hard to make routes accessible and easy to traverse.

    This tour typically includes two sets of stairs. However, if this is a challenge or there are other mobility or sensory concerns, just let us know in advance, and we will gladly find a workaround!
